Ok, much like my last post, this post is going to be a lot of me explaining my absence, albeit for different reasons this time. This time, the (primary) reason for my lack of posting was all of the new stuff in my life. Of course, some of my usual nihilism and anxiety worked their way in there too, but that’s not what this post is about. So, out with the old, and in with the new!
I have an almost full-time job! Almost because it is not a full 40 hours/week and I do not get a snazzy 401k or health insurance. But! I get a paycheck! And a place to go 4-5 days a week where I earn that paycheck! And an answer to people asking me what I ~do~!
I’m working as a medical scribe right now, which basically means that I follow doctors around all day and fill out their charts so they can focus on the patients. It’s a pretty neat experience, and I’ve already learned a ton about the medical profession from it.
The New #2 is related to the almost full-time nature of my new job. Because it is not literally full-time, I need to supplement my income. As I’ve mentioned here before, I’ve done some freelance writing in the past, but I really want to expand that part of my income. That means that after I get home from my “day job,” I’m working on researching freelance opportunities, brainstorming ideas, and writing pitches. Which leaves little energy left over for this blog, but I’m realizing that I need to keep my writing muscles in shape if I want to lock down many freelance clients. So you can expect to hear a bit more from me starting now. (Sorry.)
My “new old” is college! I graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience a couple of weeks ago–the day before I started my new job, in fact. So now I can refer to college as “the good ole days” and wax nostalgic about my youth.
So, what’s new with all of you?
